The Company

Storm2’s client is an early-stage FinTech startup building an AI-powered compliance platform. They’re past the scrappy early days and now at the stage where scale becomes the engineering challenge: more clients, more data, more complexity. The team is lean and moving fast.

The Role

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to work inside a defined lane. The team is small, the CTO is hands-on, and the expectation is that senior engineers own things end to end, from the design decision through to what’s running in production.

You’d be working across a Python/Django backend and React/TypeScript frontend, which means you need to be genuinely comfortable on both sides rather than tolerating one of them. The interesting work right now sits at the intersection of scaling backend infrastructure and shipping new features on a compliance product that real customers rely on. There’s also mentoring work here: setting the bar for code quality, contributing to design reviews, and raising the level of the engineers around you.

The right person has done this before in a startup context, has owned real surface area on a customer-facing SaaS product, and doesn’t need to be told what to do with it.

What you’ll be working on:

• Designing, architecting, and shipping new features across the full stack, Python/Django backend and React/TypeScript frontend
• Owning parts of the platform end to end, including deployment and ongoing maintenance
• Scaling backend systems to handle growing client volume, load, and data
• Working directly with the CTO, product, design, and customer-facing teams
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical design reviews

What you’ll bring:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• CS degree
• Strong proficiency across Python, Django, AWS, React, and Next.js
• End-to-end ownership experience on a feature or product area within a customer-facing SaaS product
• Startup background: you know what it means to operate in a fast-moving, resource-constrained environment
• Comfort working on-site in Lower Manhattan five days a week
