VP of Engineering
NYC | In Office | $300k-$500k + Equity
We’re entering a new phase of growth, and we’re looking for a VP of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering team while staying close to the code. This role blends technical leadership, people management, and cross-functional partnership to help us build the OS for financial advisors.
As VP of Engineering, you will:
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team:
- Recruit and retain top engineering talent
- Mentor junior talent into senior talent.
- Drive execution across multiple product areas: Ensure the team delivers high-quality features that ship fast and meet the expectations of financial professionals and enterprise partners.
- Establish engineering processes and standards: Implement pragmatic processes for planning, code quality, review, operational excellence, and on-call that match our fast-moving culture.
- Determine the right balance of process vs speed, and evolve operations as the company grows.
- Partner with founders on technical strategy: Work closely with the founding team to define architecture, scaling plans, reliability requirements, and long-term platform direction.
- Contribute to hands-on technical work when needed: You won’t be coding every day, but you should be comfortable diving into architectural discussions, unblocking engineers, and reviewing complex PRs.
- Cultivate a healthy engineering culture: Promote transparency, thoughtful debate, documentation, a bias for action, and strong communication.
What kind of person would suit this role?
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Have 10**+ years of engineering leadership experience**, ideally at a fast-growing startup or high-performance tech company.
- Have a strong technical background, including experience
- You can control outcomes despite uncertainty. Proven track record delivering product, demonstrating good and structured judgement in an unpredictable startup settings.
- Have exceptional communication skills: you can help the team understand the the “why” behind a new or changing focus, and ensuring everyone feels connected to the company’s goals and understands their impact.
- Are comfortable making architecture and tradeoff decisions across performance, reliability, cost, and speed.
- Are excited by the idea of spending time both in the code and leading people.
- Are NYC-based and eager to work in-office 5 days/week in Chelsea.

Interview Process
- 30-45 minute founder screen (role fit, motivation, leadership philosophy)
- 45-minute technical deep dive (architecture, scaling, debugging, system ownership)
- Onsite
- Team management & leadership interview — 60 minutes

- Code review & technical decision-making session — 30 minutes
