Storm2

Chief Technology Officer – AI-Powered FinTech Platform (Franchise Finance)
Flatiron, New York City, NY (On-site 4/5 days per week)
Competitive Base + Bonus + Meaningful Equity | Series A

Company: Storm2’s client is reimagining financial operations for the US franchise industry — combining charge cards, flexible financing, and automated accounting into a single intelligence platform purpose-built for multi-unit operators.

Backed and scaling, they’re targeting a $6B accounting services market that’s currently served by manual, offshore labor and delivering stale data to operators who need real-time visibility across their entire portfolio.

Why this role & Why Now

  • Massive, underserved market: US franchise operators run complex, multi-location P&Ls with virtually no real-time financial visibility. Nobody has solved this well.
  • Proprietary data flywheel: Card transactions, lending data, POS/ERP integrations — this platform sits at the intersection of all of it, creating underwriting and intelligence advantages no standalone lender can replicate.
  • 2026 flagship build: The core project this year is an AI-enabled accounting suite — automated bookkeeping, real-time reconciliation, tax automation, T+0 dashboards. This is the CTO’s to architect and deliver.
  • First principles moment: Small, high-output engineering team. The person in this seat will define how the org scales, what gets built vs. bought, and what world-class looks like here.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end technical strategy, systems architecture, and product roadmap across the platform
  • Architect and deliver the AI-powered Financial Operations Platform — real-time reconciliation, automated transaction categorisation, tax filing automation, and instant cross-location dashboards
  • Build and scale the proprietary data flywheel integrating card, lending, ERP, and POS data into a unified intelligence layer powering credit decisioning and predictive cash flow analytics
  • Design and deploy ML models for transaction classification, anomaly detection, credit risk scoring, and financial forecasting
  • Own technical execution of the loan origination and servicing platform, including digital deal rooms and multi-party workflow automation
  • Drive product and UX decisions — making complex financial data feel simple for operators running 5–50 locations
  • Lead and scale the engineering team, including hiring across US and offshore geographies

Qualifications:

  • Deep experience building accounting software — multi-entity bookkeeping, real-time reconciliation, chart of accounts, financial reporting across multiple locations
  • Hands-on with ML/AI applied to financial data: transaction categorisation, document extraction, anomaly detection, intelligent human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Track record scaling a small engineering team into a larger, high-output organisation
  • Strong product and UX instincts — especially for non-technical end users
  • Experience with regulated financial infrastructure: SOC 2, PCI, data privacy

Why apply:

  • Equity at a well-capitalised Series A with a clear, large-market thesis
  • Greenfield architecture on a genuinely hard problem — no legacy to inherit
  • Full ownership: strategy, team, product, and execution
  • Category-defining opportunity in a sector where the status quo is broken and the data advantage is real
