About the Company

We are partnered with a Series A, venture-backed payments company building modern infrastructure for cross-border and international transactions. The platform is designed to handle high-throughput, highly regulated payment flows while improving speed, reliability, and intelligence across global money movement. AI and machine learning are central to how the company differentiates. From fraud and risk to routing and compliance, data-driven decisioning is a core pillar of the product strategy rather than an experimental layer.

The Role

This role exists to own and execute the company’s AI and machine learning strategy end-to-end. As VP of AI / ML, you will define the roadmap, build scalable ML systems, and embed intelligence across the core payments platform

You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, and Leadership to ensure ML capabilities deliver measurable impact in production environments, while laying the foundation for long-term data and AI maturity. This is a senior leadership role combining technical depth, strategic ownership, and team building in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the AI / ML roadmap aligned with product, risk, and business objectives
• Lead the development of ML-driven capabilities across the payments lifecycle
• Design and scale systems for fraud detection, transaction monitoring, and anomaly detection
• Build intelligent risk scoring, underwriting, and decisioning models
• Drive ML-powered routing, pricing optimisation, and operational efficiency
• Embed AI into compliance and regulatory workflows, including KYC and AML processes
• Partner closely with engineering and product to operationalise models in high-throughput, real-time systems
• Establish best practices for model performance, monitoring, governance, and scalability

Requirements / Who We’re Looking For:

• 8–12+ years of experience across machine learning, applied AI, or data science
• Prior leadership experience in a startup or high-growth technology environment
• Proven track record of shipping ML models into production systems
• Strong experience with real-time and batch inference architectures
• Familiarity with modern ML stacks, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms
• Background in FinTech, payments, financial services, or other regulated environments
• Exposure to cross-border payments, FX, fraud, risk, or compliance systems is a strong plus
• Comfortable operating as both a technical leader and people manager in early-stage settings
