Chief Financial Officer | High Growth FinTech Lender

The Company

A rapidly scaling, venture backed fintech lender is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. The business operates at the intersection of payments and consumer finance, providing embedded financing solutions through a large network of service based partners across North America.

Following several years of sustained growth, the company has established itself as a category leader within its niche and is entering the next phase of expansion. This presents an opportunity for an experienced finance executive to help shape strategy, optimize capital structure, and prepare the business for future strategic outcomes.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will serve as a key strategic partner to the executive team, board, investors, and lending partners. This individual will lead all aspects of finance, capital markets, FP&A, accounting, reporting, and investor relations.

This role is suited to a hands on operator who has successfully navigated growth stage environments, managed institutional debt facilities, and played a leading role in significant strategic transactions or exit processes.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Markets & Funding Strategy

  • Manage relationships with warehouse lenders, debt investors, and capital providers.
  • Oversee facility performance, covenant compliance, borrowing base reporting, and liquidity planning.
  • Lead negotiations for new funding arrangements and facility expansions.
  • Develop and execute long term capital strategy to support continued growth.

Strategic Finance & Corporate Development

  • Act as financial lead for potential M&A, recapitalization, fundraising, or exit initiatives.
  • Maintain transaction readiness through robust reporting, financial models, and diligence materials.
  • Partner with the CEO and board on strategic planning and value creation initiatives.
  • Evaluate corporate finance opportunities and transaction structures.

FP&A & Business Performance

  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and long range planning processes.
  • Partner with commercial and product leaders on investment decisions and growth initiatives.
  • Build financial frameworks to evaluate new products, technology investments, and business opportunities.
  • Establish clear KPI ownership and performance measurement across the organization.

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Strengthen accounting processes, financial controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Manage audit, tax, and compliance relationships.
  • Oversee financial reporting requirements across stakeholders and funding partners.

Investor & Board Engagement

  • Serve as primary finance contact for investors and board members.
  • Lead board reporting, investor communications, and financial storytelling.
  • Support ongoing stakeholder management and strategic relationship development.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high performing finance organization spanning FP&A, accounting, and operations.
  • Mentor team members and build scalable processes to support growth.
  • Identify future hiring needs and strengthen finance capabilities across the business.

Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Proven CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance leadership experience within a high growth fintech, lending, specialty finance, or financial services environment.
  • Deep experience managing institutional debt facilities and lender relationships.
  • Track record negotiating credit agreements, covenant structures, and funding arrangements.
  • Significant experience leading or supporting a major strategic transaction, acquisition, recapitalization, or exit.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and capital planning capabilities.
  • Experience presenting to boards, investors, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build and scale finance infrastructure in growth stage businesses.
  • Team leadership experience with a focus on developing high performing talent.

Preferred Background

  • Consumer lending, embedded finance, point of sale lending, or specialty finance experience.
  • Exposure to structured finance, securitization, or forward flow agreements.
  • CPA, CFA, investment banking, or relevant corporate finance background.
  • Experience operating within private equity or venture capital backed businesses.
  • Familiarity with regulated lending environments.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 12 months, the successful candidate will:

  • Establish strong relationships with funding partners and capital providers.
  • Enhance financial reporting and forecasting capabilities.
  • Create a robust, transaction ready financial infrastructure.
  • Improve financial processes, governance, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and strengthen the finance team while supporting continued business growth.
