Storm2

Product Engineer – AI-Powered Product Development
🌍 San Francisco, CA (On-site)
💲 $140,000-$280,000 + Bonus + Equity

The Company
Storm2’s client is a fast-growing insurtech business using AI to modernise how commercial insurance is bought, sold, and serviced. The company has experienced exceptional growth over the last 18 months and is investing heavily in product and engineering as it scales. They’re building software that has a direct impact on revenue, operations, and customer outcomes from day one.

The Role
Most product engineering roles still separate product, engineering, and operations. This one doesn’t.
You’ll spend as much time understanding the problems facing sales, service, and operational teams as you do writing code. The expectation isn’t to build features from a roadmap and move on. It’s to identify opportunities, test ideas quickly, and ship solutions that move business metrics.
The team works at pace and puts a huge amount of ownership in the hands of engineers. If you enjoy operating across the full stack, shipping AI-powered products into production, and measuring success through outcomes rather than tickets completed, you’ll be a strong fit.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Building AI-powered products end-to-end across frontend, backend, workflows, and evaluation systems
  • Working directly with business and operational teams to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation
  • Developing agent-based and LLM-powered applications that support critical business processes
  • Experimenting with new models, tools, and AI capabilities as they become available
  • Creating feedback loops and evaluation systems that improve model performance over time
  • Owning product metrics and measuring the commercial impact of what you build
  • Rapidly prototyping, testing, and deploying new functionality into production
  • Presenting results and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What you’ll bring:

  • Commercial software engineering experience building and shipping production applications
  • Strong development experience with Python, TypeScript, or similar languages
  • Experience delivering AI-enabled products, including LLM applications, workflows, automation platforms, or agent systems
  • Ability to work comfortably across frontend, backend, and AI infrastructure layers
  • Strong product mindset with a focus on user outcomes and measurable business impact
  • Experience moving quickly from concept to production in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical work to non-technical audiences

Nice to have:

  • Experience with RAG systems, evaluation frameworks, or agent orchestration platforms
  • Voice AI or real-time application experience
  • Background building internal tooling, workflow systems, or operational software
  • Startup experience within high-growth environments
  • Strong familiarity with modern AI development tools and workflows

Why this role?
This is a role for engineers who want ownership beyond code. You’ll have direct exposure to business problems, immediate visibility of the impact you’re creating, and the freedom to experiment with new AI capabilities as they emerge. The pace is high, but so is the opportunity to shape products that become core to how the business operates.
